Victoria Falls, Kruger National Park Safari, Blue Train and Cape Town

 

18 Day Adventure Itinerary

Day 1 - Depart Australia today to begin your private Africa safari!

 

 


 

Day 2 – On arrival in Johannesburg, you will take your connecting flight to Victoria Falls. On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport, you will be met by a local representative who will arrange your transfer to your hotel - Zambezi Lodge.

 

Later the afternoon, enjoy a sundowner Zambezi River cruise which is a suburb way to relax and enjoy the beauty of the river. You will have the opportunity to see a variety of game, including elephants, hippo, crocodiles and different bird species. The rest of the evening is yours at leisure.

Day 3 – Today,  discover how the falls were formed and what local customs and traditions surround them with an in-depth tour of the falls. The tour is very informative and ends with a visit to the local art and crafts centre. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

 

Optional tour (at your own account): Helicopter flight over the falls.

Day 4 – Today we visit  Chobe National Park to enjoy a river cruise and game drive. It is the second largest National Park in Botswana and covers over 15 566 square kilometers. It has one of the greatest concentration of game found on the African continent and is famous for the number of elephants roaming in the reserve. The Chobe River flows lazily through the Caprivi flood plains and provides a haven for huge herds of elephants, zebras, wildebeast and impala which are closely followed by predators.

Day 5 – After breakfast, you will be transferred to Livingstone Airport for your onward flight to start your safari adventure in the world renowned Kruger National Park. Upon arrival at Nelspruit, you will be met by a representative of your lodge and transferred to your luxury accommodation for the next five nights. Kruger is famous for its high density of wild animals includes the Big 5: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalos. Hundreds of other mammals also make their home here.

Day 6 – Today, start with an early morning game drive in the world renowned Kruger National Park. Ensure you bring your camera along as you will be spotting the BIG 5 in their natural environment. The abundance of species you will see will be an experience of a lifetime. Get up close to the animals in your specialised safari vehicle lead by an expert guide. The game drive is approximately 6-8 hours. Later this evening, enjoy a sumptuous 3 course dinner while swapping stories of your animal encounters earlier that day.

Day 7 – Today enjoy a day at leisure. You may consider the following optional tours (at your own expense):

 

Optional tour (at your own expense): You may want to consider an optional Swaziland day tour. After an early breakfast, you will visit a Swazi Village and gain insight to the Swazi culture and traditions. The tour includes an authentic African lunch, dancing and an opportunity to interact with the local community.

 

Optional tour (at your own expense): Panoramic Tour. Rise early for one of the most scenic tours in South Africa. The tour explores the North Eastern escarpment of the 

Drakensberg and includes a visit to Blyde River Canyon, Gods Window and Bourkes Potholes which is a geological phenomenon.

Day 8 – Rise early again today for your second game drive in the Kruger National Park. Today you might spot animals you missed on the first game drive or encounter different species all together.

Day 9 – Today enjoy a day at leisure. You may consider the following optional tours (at your own expense):

 

Optional tour (at your own expense): You may want to consider an optional Swaziland day tour. Day 10 – After breakfast, you will be transferred to Nelspruit Airport for your onward flight to Johannesburg. On arrival at Johannesburg Airport, you will be met by a  tour representative for your transfer to your hotel in Pretoria for you overnight stay. After check in, relax and enjoy the day at your leisure.

Day 11 – After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Pretoria Train Station for your Southbound journey to Cape Town on the world famous Blue Train! Upon boarding, step into a world of luxury. Be greeted with pre-departure snacks and drinks and settle into your luxurious suite. Kings and presidents have indulged on this magnificent, moving five star "hotel-on-wheels". From love-struck honeymooners, to adulted celebrities. And even ordinary folk who romaticise about a life of spectacular luxury, a life that has seemed tantalising out of reach.

Day 12 – Wake this morning in your luxurious train suite as the train continues its journey across South Africa, enjoy an off train tour to the Kimberley Big Hole, claimed to be the largest hole excavated by hand. Here, learn about the history of Diamond mining in this region. Upon re-boarding the train, be greeted with a glass of sherry before dinner is served in the dining car. Dinner is an elegant affair - men are requested to wear a jacket and ladies elegant evening wear. Enjoy post dinner drinks in the Club Bar before retiring to bed.

Day 13 – Wake this morning in your luxurious train suite as the train continues its journey across South Africa. After breakfast, choose either to relax in your suite or in the comfort of the elegant lounge with large viewing windows. On arrival you will be assisted off the train and met at Cape Town Station and transferred to your Cape Town hotel. After check in enjoy the rest of the evening at your leisure.

Day 14 – After breakfast, you will be collected at your hotel for a 30 minute tour of Afrogem, one of the leading jewellery manufacturers in South Africa. You will have firsthand experience of how smelted gold is transformed and watch the craftsman set gems and semi-precious stones in the creation of jewellery. After, enjoy a trip up the cable car to the top of Table Mountain for some exquisite views of Cape Town! When you are ready, make your own way back to your hotel where the rest of the day is yours to leisure. Taxi's are available at the Cable Car Station for your transfer back to your hotel.

Day 15 - Today, enjoy a day at leisure.

 

Optional tour (at your own expense):  Franschoek wine tram tour. Nestled between towering mountains in the beautiful Cape wine lands lies the magnificient Franschoek Valley. This is the food and wine heartland of the country, where splendid wines are grown and top chefs create lasting memories. The wine tour is a combination of tram and tram bus that will transport you around a loop seven stops allowing you to hop off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, may it be wine tasting on a cellar tour or lunch.

 

Optional Tour (at your own expense): Robben Island - Enjoy a ferry ride and tour Robben Island off the coast of Cape Town where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years.

Day 16 -  After an early breakfast, bring your camera to enjoy a full day tour of the Cape Peninsula! The tour begins with a scenic drive along the Atlantic Coast passing through Camps Bay and the fishing village of Hout Bay. The tour includes a trip to Cape Point at the southern western tip of the Cape Peninsula with the most spectacular views. The Cape Point Nature Reserve comprises of 17300 acres of indigenous fauna and flora. Here you can see wildlife that includes baboon's, rhebok, Cape Mountain Zebra and the elusive eland. Witness the union of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. On route back to your hotel we also visit the penguin colony at the Boulders Beach (entry on your own account).  The last stop is at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens for a short walking tour of the beautiful garden.

Day 17 - After breakfast and check out from your hotel, you will be transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your onward flight home.
